Adobe Analytics Tableau Direct Connector

With the existing Data Warehouse Tableau export functionality, there are several limitations (e.g., length of time to export, gap in measures available, etc.).

My proposal is to implement an Adobe Analytics Tableau Direct Connector. This will allow Adobe Analytics customers to increase agility with reporting and allow resources to be shifted from reporting to more time spent analyzing and recommending actions based on the data.

Hello @benjamingaines,

any news on this?

Hey @benjamingaines, do we have any update on this? We're still strugling to do some automation here without this integration. The Tableau file Data Warehouse gives us it's useless, it comes inside a zip.

a TDE file is meant to be a archive file that has a reference to a source file/DB. Then you get the ability to refresh a tde by updating the source file and tableau can auto refresh the tde. In the scenario where a user gets the capability to export to Tableau, they get a file that can be consumed by Tableau, but not updated or refreshed. You can FTP it again under the same file name but its treated as a new data source. Since there is no connection to the Adobe file store, the tde is essentially a static file like a csv. the one thing it does do well is streamline the formatting considerations for Tableau, but Data Warehouse is much better off with that than Report builder or Reports if you were to just download and connect to Tableau.

I'm sorry to hear that, @emillermove. So that I can share it with the team, can you elaborate on how it "strays away from the very purpose of a tde?"

Additionally, the tde that is generated now is not very useful and strays away from the very purpose of a tde. We have found it to be virtually useless in an automated solution for dashboarding.

It was a great disappointment when I did not hear this integration announced at Adobe Summit this year. Any update on an ETA?

@benjamingaines would love to hear about any progress on this. there have been several community members including myself that have developed some makeshift/unstable workarounds. the TDE is a good start, but it is not an optimal solution for many users.

in the meantime, i will be encouraging my team members to upvote this post for visibility. if there is anything else i can do to enhance the visibility of this request, please let me know.

looking forward to hearing from you.
