appMeasurement trackExternalLinks and custom external link tracking

All,

I have trackExternalLinks in my appMeasurement code set to "true" currently on my site. I also have a custom external tracking link to allow me to pass some additional data to my reporting suite when the link is clicked. This has resulted in 2x call I see on the exit links visible in the network call. Do you see any issue to set the trackExternalLinks=false in appMeasurement and let the custom external tracking call to execute only on my custom link? I am hoping to see a single exit link in the network call.

Dear christophers35608510,

If you disable External Link i.e. Set trackExternalLinks=false, the action wont be accounted as Exit in Adobe Analytics. In other words, Adobe wont count that exit navigation as 'Exit' metric.

If you want only one server call, you can add custom variables in the default Exit Link itself. Read this thread to understand more in detail : How to pass custom event with exit link in DTM
