- This feature should be consider important and it should be created inside Adobe Analytics - Server calls usage.

- We need to track Video calls, Starts or Media Streams. At the moment it seems that Adobe has not added this feature yet into the platform or future Roadmaps.

- This feature gives more usage visibility to all users of Analytics in order to improve their adoption, usage, strategy for the future and avoid any over usage invoices

Hi  Jennifer,

I am referring to Video Usage like Server Calls Usage feature inside AA UI.

Why do you think it is not possible to implement it?

Thanks for your comments and feedback!

Or are you saying you want video server calls to be distinguished in the Server Call report.... I'm not really sure how that would work.

The server call usage report is Primary Calls and Secondary Call.... for web and for app.... they don't do in-depth checks on how the server calls are being used (ie. they don't distinguish page views from actions from data insertion, etc). And the fact that video calls are actions, I don't know how they could split those up and still manage to cover everyone's individual usage....

Not to mention, trying to sub-divide all these different types of tracking calls by primary and secondary calls would probably make the report really complex and hard to use.....

I'm not sure why you are saying that Adobe doesn't support this?

Video tracking has been a thing since at least 2015 (here is a PDF about it from that time: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/media-analytics/assets/milestone_analytics_video.pdf?lang=en)

You don't need to use the heartbeat functionality, but can leverage trigger based tracking - start/stop, 25%, 50%, etc, and video complete to reduce server calls.

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-platform/tags/extensions/adobe/youtube/overview.html?lang=en

(FYI, this plugin catches the triggers about 1/4 of the time for me... when I implemented it a few years ago... I gave up and did another solution)

Now, if your concern is that the Launch plugins have issues properly working with YouTube videos... that is a reflection of the poor YouTube API (which I have actually coded a solution for, not once, not twice, but 4 separate times, and the longest it "worked" was about 2 weeks.... I have coded API integrations with other video players that were rock solid...); Adobe can only do so much with a system that they don't control and seems to be in constant flux....
