Help annotating PDFs from within iOS app

Looking to be able to annotate PDFs in an iOS app.

I have my own iOS (iPad) app, and I know I can display PDFs.  Wondering if this SDK can be used to allow my user to, from within my app, annotate a PDF.  And then, would the annotations modify or update the PDF?  Or would annotations be stored "out of band" along with the PDF.

I've not played with the Adobe SDK, but there are others out there and wondering if Adobe's SDK would do that for me before I go down rabbit holes not even knowing if it's possible.

TIA
