Do I Need a DB backup before making changes to DB structure?

Hi all

Just wondering if it is really necessary to take a planned DB backup before applying a change to the recipient extended schema? DB is about 10M records, I would not want to lock it by the schema update

We do have a planned backup/deployment in conjunction with Adobe in a few weeks but I need to add a field now for an urgent requirement

    Hi Hugo,

    Not necessary, you can directly add your custom attributes in the extended schema and update the database structure.
