The API of those fields cannot be updated in SF.  As fields were created once we had configured Marketo-SF sync.

1) what is the expected API prefix of those fields?

2) if I should add it manually to SF - what will be with the existing fields? we cant remove it.

3) Should I stop sync to market during the change?

Hi @Cahit Akin,

Sorry for not seeing this question sooner to reply back. The Adding Custom Marketo Fields to Salesforce document has been updated with info about Professional edition. Essentially it's the same thing, except that you'll need to be sure the fields are included in your Lead & Contact page layouts in order for Marketo to sync data to them. Professional edition governs field level security based on whether they're included in the page layouts.

Thanks,

Mike

If anyone is interested, Jenn DiMaria over at  RevEngine will be holding a webinar on these configuration changes on Thursday, November 17th, from 1 - 1:45pm Eastern time. I'll be there along with a couple other key contributors to this project from Marketo to answer as many questions as we can. If you'd like to join in, please check out their webinar registration page right here.

Cheers!

Hi @Chris Chariton

Essentially the process of adding fields into SFDC Professional Edition is the same as for Enterprise. The big difference is that with Professional Edition, the fields must be added into the Lead & Contact page layouts in order for Marketo to be able to pass data to them.

Just updated the doc Adding Custom Marketo Fields to Salesforce to mention that part.

Hope that helps!

HI @Leilani Latimer

No, the data will all remain the same as it was. The field values like Acquisition date all live within Marketo and are controlled on that side. No values will be changed, it's just a matter of which fields in SFDC those values get synced to.

Once the backfill takes place, will it change the Acquisition Date based upon the migration?

Yes, you create the fields in SFDC and then you create a ticket with Support to have them manually map the custom fields together for you.

**VERY IMPORTANT: whenever you do this, you need to block field updates from SFDC sync in the admin section in field management.

Why?  Since SFDC is always considered the source of truth, and the new SFDC fields contains all NULL values, it will start Nulling out your Marketo data.  To prevent this from happening, you need to upload all the field data to SFDC first, and then you can re-enable the SFDC sync.

So steps below

1.  Block Salesforce sync from MArketo fields

2.  Create ticket asking Tech support to map fields

3.  Uplaod data into SFDC fields from MArketo

4.  Re-enable Salesforce sync

Goodluck!

Is there any way to sync custom Marketo fields into Salesforce if they were created after the initial sync? I haven't been able to find anything.
