I am trying to understand how the location of a rendering script is resolved when using a json extension. I am also interested in the same question but when also including a selector.I have been puzzling over the statements in this article :-http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/developing/the_basics.html#Sling%2520Request%2520ProcessingIt all seems to work fine when the URL uses a .html extension, but if I use .json instead, it all goes a bit pear-shaped ?Under the title 'Locating the script' from the article, it states :-URLs in other formats, not ending with .html For example ../content/corporate/jobs/developer.pdf The script will be /apps/hr/jobs/jobs.pdf.esp; the suffix is added to the script name. URLs with selectors Selectors can be used to display the same content in an alternative format. For example a printer friendly version, an rss feed or a summary. If we look at a printer friendly version where the selector could be print; as in ../content/corporate/jobs/developer.print.h

Hi thereI'm trying to build a client which should submit some form data to a SAP web service. Using wsimport I created the necessary classes to build the client. I then created a standalone client to test out the web service in my IDE, everything worked fine.Afterwards I tried installing the web service client as a bundle on my CQ instance (5.5), but i failed to start because of the following errors in my bundle:javax.jws -- Cannot be resolved javax.jws.soap -- Cannot be resolvedAfter some googling I found this question on StackOverflow which did solve the problem through adding the following dependency to maven:<dependency> <groupId>org.apache.geronimo.specs</groupId> <artifactId>geronimo-ws-metadata_2.0_spec</artifactId> <version>1.1.2</version> <scope>compile</scope> </dependency>This is 1 of 2 external dependencies I'm using, the other one is a LDAP SDK from Unboundid. Now my bundle would start, but trying to submit data t

Hi - I'm trying to find the differences between the two OOTB SSO Authentication handlers: a) SSO Authentication Handler and b) SAML 2.0 Authentication HandlerThere is not much documentation on what each is capable of, from the name I would assume, one would be specifically to integrate with SAML based authenticators, but, other than that, fundamentally what each is capable/not capable of. Any page reference / documentation / details much appreciated. Best,Sivaram

Hi,I need to create a new user by coping the existing user permission level. Is there any out of box function to archive it?Not creating a group and setting permissions to it and adding users to that group. Also I'm looking functionality like, viewing complete permissions of the current user.Ex: if you check the page properties -> audit log -> permissions it will show the access info for the current page.Similarly i want to see the complete access info without going into user manager page.is that possible? Thanks,Vikram.

I'm looking at speeding up a component that just prints a large amount of <a> tags for a menu. Originally it took 70ms to generate this component which didn't make sense to me since this was just calling out.write() on a cached string. I disabled link checker in the component using the setIgnoreExternals and setIgnoreInternals methods and this got me down to around 15ms. This is much better but still accounts for almost half of our page generation time (locally). On a hunch i changed all of the <a href".."> tags to <span href=".."> and this dropped the generation time to 5ms. Is there anything else happening within CQ that would cause <a> tags to render slower than another tag? I'm using the CQ timing component to get the generation times. Thanks

Hi experts,I have successfully configured Apache DS with my CQ 5.4 instance. Now when a user is added (for example user1) in Apache DS then we will not be able to see newly created user in users list when we are logged in as admin. This user (user1) only be available after user1 try login first time with the credentials entered while creating user in ApacheDS. So, we need to ask business users (user1) to login and logout and then administrator can give permission to user1.My doubt is there any way to automate this process so that when user1 will login for first time then it will have necessary permission and we do not need to ask user login and log out.Kindly advise!Sam

Hello,Is there a way to pass a data to a widget in a dialog from the JSP.I am trying to have the value of the widget(textarea xtype) which is initially hidden, an onclick of a checkox i would have the texarea as xtype shown, bearing the value that is  stored under the dc:description property of a particular asset, which has been dragged and dropped onto the drop target area in the same dialog.I managed to use selectionchanged listener for the checkbox and i am able to populate the text area with the asset's dc:description value, but if i have multiple such components on the page the first component's dc:description value gets picked up.In jsp:     <input id ="desc" type ="text" value ="<%=assetDesc%>"/>  //prints the right dc:description values(stored in assetDesc variable) for each component dropped on the page,in listener: var desc=document.getElementById("desc").value;// always returns the value of the component that has been dropped on the page first. Any help ?

Hello,Could you please help me understand reasons for upgrade from CQ5.3 to AEM 5.6. We features will be helpful in AEM 5.6?Thanks

Hi, I am new to AEM and its capabilities. Can someone please tell me whether or not a content connector is necessary to send files for localization? Or is there adequate functionality within AEM to get sites localized? If a connector is needed, which ones work best with AEM. I have heard of Clay Tablet as one possible option. Thanks,Jaime

import com.day.cq.wcm.webservicesupport.Configuration; import com.day.cq.wcm.webservicesupport.ConfigurationManager; @Component(immediate=true) public class Videos { private final Logger log = Logger.getLogger(Videos.class); private Configuration configuration; @Reference private ConfigurationManager cfgMgr; public void connectToService() { configuration = cfgMgr.getConfiguration("mycustomservice"); } } cfgMgr is null. I wonder why is a reference variable null anyway. Are there any other methods to get it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

HelloAs part of our upcoming deployment, CQ indexes will have to be rebuilt. On publish instances, we do a rolling reindex - bring down a publisher, reindex, start. The authors, however, are clustered, so (to my understanding), they all have to be brought down, reindexed, and brought up (master followed by slaves). Here are the questions:1. Is it possible to bring down master, reindex, start and then do the same to slaves?2. Is it possible to reindex publishers and authors separately? That is, can the indexes on authors and publish be different? Thanks, Eli

This question was posted today at 5:18 am EST -- however - it appears to be gone. We have re-entered as it AEM ENG has an answer that will benefit the AEM community: Hi!I've a workflow with (basically) two steps. The first step puts the userId in the workflow MetaDataMap. The second step, retrieves the userId from workflow MetaDataMap:•    Step 1:workflowData.getMetaDataMap().put("initiator", workItem.getWorkflow().getInitiator()); //getInitiator() returns String•    Step 2:String initiator = (String) workItem.getWorkflowData().getMetaDataMap().get("initiator");When the workflow initiator is 'Administrator', I've no problems (initiator is populated with "admin"). This works fine! But when the workflow initiator is another user, I get this error message:    ...    Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.jackrabbit.spi.commons.value.QValueValue cannot be cast to java.lang.String    ...    Any advice? Thanks in advance!
