Apply Layout Templates to Users

Hi, if we create Layout Templates and assign them to existing users, will it overwrite what they were currently seeing? Will it remove all their pins and favorites?

Hi,

 

Any of the personal UI customisations that a user has added themselves (i.e., personal pins/favourites) will not be overwritten when assigning a new layout template. 

 

Only the UI customisations controlled by the layout template (as configured by an admin or group admin) will be overwritten/superseded when adding a new layout template.

 

It's best to test your layout template before assigning it to users so you can check your configuration is working as expected before rolling it out. It will also let you see what is overwritten and what is not. This article explains how best to test layout templates.

    I also just played around with it, assigning the new layout template to only myself at first so i could check out how it was working and looking before assigning to other users.  good discussion in making the case for layout templates in recent webinar, in case you can access or another comes up in the future.

    looking forward to a more informed response as i have just started playing with layout templates after the last great webinar on the subject.  i would suggest that it will overwrite what they were currently seeing, but retains the objects pinned by that individual (unless specifically edited).
