Quick Filter for all Lists

In additon to filter, view, and grouping there should be a free form text box that quickly filters any given list of objects. For example, say I am looking at a project list in a portfolio. I could type in part of a project name and the list would filter down to only matching objects. Same for reports, tasks, whatever.
