User Costs by Roles/Rates with specific time periods

The current ability in WF is very limited to controlling rates for specific time periods.

We need the ability to manages all types of rates & roles for specific time periods. That could be a user hourly cost rate, a role based cost rate, etc.

Thank you for the submission! We think this is a good enhancement to the Workfront platform overall and this product area in particular!

Workfront currently prioritizes large-scale, foundational enhancements such as the new Reporting experience and changes to the core data model, so this item does not fit in our near-term roadmap. As such, I am marking this as Declined now, but we'll keep this in our backlog for the improvements for this area so that we can revisit the decision in the future.

This is still a major problem for us. It looks like it's been 2 years since the topic was brought up and still no progress in that direction has been made. You have no idea how helpful being able to lock cost and billing rates would be for a large company.

This needs to be reconsidered!

Anna - I must also state my total disappointment. Every other program has similar functions and it is a "required" capability in the system we use in the future. We are currently evaluating other products and this could tip the scales in the other direction.

Anna,

The end of the year is coming up, and there is no company that I know of that does not have new cost rates with a new year. This is not a "Great Functionality" to have, its a necessity. More than improved formatting, or showing more records per page, etc... this has caused my company significant issues EVERY year end/ year beginning. Marking this "unplanned for now" will require that my company re-evaluate if Workfront is really a tool that can be continued to be used due to its limitations. I'm concerned that the team at Workfront does not fully comprehend the severity of impact to business use without this functionality, as been evidenced by the various users commenting here and other similar posts. What can be done to escalate this request to your management?

Thank you for the interesting idea and all the feedback. We agree this is great functionality to have and we are investigating it but we are not able to provide the timeline on when we will have it built, so will mark this as Not Planned for now. Please continue up-voting and providing your use cases as we will revisit this later.

Believe many of the voters here will also be interested in better forecasting reporting. I've submitted an idea to Create Assigned Hours as a reporting object.

An Assigned Hours report would function just like an hours report, but would be future looking. You would then be able to run forecast reports on hours, revenues, costs and profits by week or month and the reports could be summarized for company, portfolio, group, etc.

This has become a major pain point for reporting accurate costs for projects that are impacted by changes in rates mid-project. The cost data is overstated since it is using the new rate for all hours on the project. There should be a way to set effective dates for roles and costs assigned to users similar to how dates can be set for bill rates.

Up to 39! This is a MAJOR control risk for professional service firms/agencies. We must be able to track roles and rates over time, and Workfront needs to use the appropriate role/rate given the date range for calculating all revenue and costs types. Without this feature, whenever data from the past is edited for a user with a promotion/role change their revenues/costs will be recalculated incorrectly.
