AEM Tagging Taxonomy Limit

Has anyone attempted to add 1,000+ Tags to a single Namespace within the Tagging Taxonomy? I have been told by Support that while there is not a technical limit, with more data we may see slower load times or less responsive UI components because of the extra data being processed. Looking to see if anyone has successfully loaded a large set of Tags in AEM and not had any issues.

 

Note: We are working in AEM as a Cloud Service.

@louizajeffries  Adding 1,000+ tags to a single namespace within the Tagging Taxonomy in AEM is technically possible. AEM does not explicitly impose a hard limit on the number of tags that can be created within a namespace. However, there are practical considerations and potential performance impacts that you should keep in mind related to performance impact and scalability. 

AEM is designed to handle large-scale content management, but excessive tags in a single namespace can lead to performance issues. For example, operations like searching, rendering, or querying tags may slow down, especially if the tagging structure is overly complex. Managing or navigating a namespace with 1,000+ tags can become unwieldy for users. The user interface may become cluttered, and finding specific tags might take longer.

Recommendation: Instead of creating 1,000+ tags in a single namespace, consider breaking them into smaller, logical groups or sub-namespaces. This can improve organization and usability. We have done the same in our application for our business needs.
