Adobe Experience Manager Assets

Hello fellow AEM Asset users, We would like to associate a source image(s) that were used in multiple pdf files.  We would like to avoid duplicating the source file in separate sub-folders for which the images was used in the multiple pdfs.  Please advise AEM Assets best practices in doing so, that would allow a user to navigate quickley to the associated assets used in a pdf.  Additionally if edits were made to the pdf, how to keep up with these relationships automatically. Thank you.Suzanne

When opening our AEM Essentials DAM last week, the search landing page had a new search option beside the standard ‘Search’ and ‘Browse Assets’: ‘Contextual Search’. We did nothing to enable this feature. We don’t feel the need for it to be an offering to our team at this point in time and would like to remove it. I found instructions for how this search feature can be disabled however my general settings (as well as a colleague's) do not have a Contextual Search section neither does our Console Administrator.Steps described in Search and discover assets in Assets Essentials | Adobe Experience ManagerDisable Contextual SearchAdministrators also have the option to disable Contextual Search for users in your organization. Hello, We do have the following problem: We have a bunch of colleagues who bring their own Creative Cloud licence attached to their Adobe ID. Now they need to use a workflow, which requires Asset Link. To access our AEM Assets instance, they need to use a Federated ID. Unfortunately the Asset Link plugin for InDesign does not have its own login routine, but uses the account, InDesign is connected to. As the Adobe ID as well as the Federated ID have the same E-Mail address, this setup is not working.Although it is not really comprehensible. Sometimes it shows a message, that access is not allowed, as an enterprise account is required. Sometimes the Asset Link plugin is working, but if links have to be updated, from time to time after searching and selecting the link, InDesign says that access to the file is not allowed. Is there a way to decouple the AssetLink plugin login from the Creative Cloud application?Thanks in advance. RegardsLars

Can the system provide a “recently downloaded” section for all user types so the end user can easily reference what they recently downloaded? Are System Administrators and Power Users able to review and reference recent downloads for individual users, as well as review which users downloaded which asset? 

I'd love to establish an easy visual for our end users to know which brands specific assets can be used for. Some assets can be used for all brands and other only specific ones. We don't have teams dedicated specifically to those specific brands so governance of this becomes challenging. If we could incorporate a visual into the image preview showing the end user which brands can use the specific assets that would be exceptionally helpful. And if we could tie that specific graphic to a custom field that would be even better. For example if we tag the field called "Brand" with "Brand A" then the Brand A logo appears in the space shown. See attached screenshot of what I'd love to be able to accomplish. You'll notice the small brand icons towards the bottom of the image preview card. If it can't be done with custom icons it would even be helpful if we could add color specific icons like many other DAMs have. Does anyone know of a way to establish anything remotely similar to this in AEM?

Hi,Is it possible to overlay the file upload dialog in aem so that when we get a name conflict we can show other options, e,g create version for working copy and create version for upload file etc, replace will also work differently.so how can we overlay without actually copying fileupload.js

I am trying to download image thumb nails or original from DAM and show on another web page hosted by another server. I need to do a bulk delete operation on a folder with a large amount of nodes as the folder we migrated had a lot more junk in it than was originally expected.  So we want to scrap the folder and re-migrate correctly.  However, I have to go folder by folder essentially using the UI delete button.  Is there a better way that I can do a delete in bulk?  I don't have access or ability to change the code but I can leverage something like Postman to hit an OOTB API if necessary.  Just seeing what options I have here.

When we apply a metadata profile to a child folder of a parent with a metadata profile we have to choose which profile to use. It doesn’t inherit the data down to the children. For example, we have a profile for Brand attached to the Brand folders. Then we have subfolders under those for the Lines of Business that have profiles attached to them. Ideally, I can create a profile for Brand and one for Line of Business. I’d like to apply the Brand profile to the Brand folder and then apply the Line of Business profile to the Line of Business folder and see the data collected from the Brand folder passed down to the Line of Business one. We have Brand and Line of Business folders in multiple places in our DAM so not being able to pass down the data collected is going to create a crazy amount of metadata profiles which will become very difficult to manage from an admin perspective. Hi, I'm new to writing queries and I'm having trouble with a particular use case. Our DAM has a section organized in projects. Each project follows this same path: /content/dam/marketing-assets/<Region Name>/<Year>/<Project Name>/source-files/<File> I want to run a query that identifies all files that are in folders with the name "source-files". I've experimented with the "path" predicate and wildcards ( * ) with no luck. Any advice on how to do this? I'm open to alternatives that would get the same results. Thank you,Morgan

Hi team,  We have used Salesforce in the past to create links for assets that could be used across multiple platforms, via email, etc. I know that there is a Share Link button in Brand Portal that allows users to share assets, but it has an expiration date and time automatically aligned to it. Is there a way to generate an asset link that can be used on other platforms without having an expiration attached? Best,E

Hi team,  We are currently testing the capabilities of AEM Assets and we have been able to find videos that walk us through how to upload new versions of assets in AEM Assets. We have been unable to find any that help us fully understand how the naming convention of the new asset needs to be the same as the existing asset in AEM Assets to be added as a new version. I've recently uploaded a new asset with the same name as the existing asset into AEM Assets and it uploaded as a new separate asset in the system. Is there a reason why this would happen? Would metadata have anything to do with it? Has anyone else had this experience or know of any documentation that covers the naming convention and versioning relationship in depth?  Best,E

AEM as a cloud service 6.5I'm looking at directions to disable asset download based on user groups permissions.There are two download buttons in the assets console- one in the top rail when you select an asset- another as an icon on the asset card I can think of overlaying the node to define custom behaviour1) Can you please point me to the node which needs to be overlayed ?2) How do we toggle this behaviour for different user groups. I'd like to set just one group to have download restriction and the rest of the groups can download. Any sample code, references will be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance

Hello all,I have a requirement to upload assets on AEMaaCS publish instance via dispatcher and cdn url ,that can be images pdf of certain sizes on publisher via a form (not AEM form) exposed to the public. This then syncs the data keyed in to a 3rd party data store , this also includes persisting of the uploaded files to the 3rd party data store.questions I have are while I can implement a simple form post exposed to public, without saving data into AEM 1. is there a best practice to implement the upload files functionality on published url with and without scanning? Does it need to be restricted in terms of file size . 2. Does it need to be stored in a temp location or can I post it to a third party data store directly . 3. Any other gotchas

Hello AEM Assets Community. We'd like to review and tag incoming photographic assets in Lightroom and then seamlessly transfer them to our AEM Essentials DAM. Does anyone have experience with doing so and connecting the LR export feature directly to AEM? Thank you!

We very recently migrated from an Assets Managed Services platform to Assets in Cloud Services.  My understanding is that now with CS, when any metadata fields are created or modified that the change needs to be deployed via Pipeline deployment.  If they are just created or modified in the Metadata Tool and just "applied" (such as in MS), that change could be over-written if a future pipeline deployment is done with other schema changes as the pipeline would have no record of the previous change.  Please correct me if I am mistaken on that. What about custom folder metadata schemas, the same?   Thank you, Jim P

Hello Adobe Community. We've recently imported all of our photo assets into our Essentials DAM, within a taxonomy folder structure. Is there any guidance available on tagging versus keywords? It's a much more time-consuming process to tag an image within a multi-level taxonomy than adding keywords. It seems that both tags, smart tags, and key words are all utilized in an asset search. How are others in the community differentiating between the two and are there any caveats for using one more than the other?

Hello dear Community!!!I am the best in finding new problems ;DWhat i discovered today: Brandportal does not automatically gets tags unpublished that are deleted from the AEM instance.So our BP contains a lot of those OOTB tags that we deleted very early on in the project 😄"Standard Tags" for example... Now i want to clean up the Brand Portal and this "Standard Tags" is not that easy to get rid of.Since i can not delete / unpublish a tag from BP - i created a new namespace "Standard Tags" in AEM, then unpublished it. No effect. Then i published it to BP and found that the "Standard Tags" in BP seems to be different than the one i created. But i can not see how it is different ;(So, dear BP users, did you figure out a way to keep your BP tags clean? /clean it up after the fact...Did you know a way to get rid of those ooooooooold tags that nobody knows what the settings exactly were?And to you, dear Adobe: Please allow the Brand Portal admin a little bit more than it is curr

Hi Experts, I am using aem-6.5 on AMS environment. I noticed an issue with asset reports. Somehow, "Upload" and "Published" reports are not getting generated although it shows message the report generation is in queue. No errors in the logs as well no node is getting created under/var/eventing/jobs for topic "com.adobe.cq.dam.report" However, other reports (download, expiration, brand portal published, disk usage, etc..) are working fine.Any clue on what could be the issue with upload report not getting generated?
