Hi all,

I have a requirement to translate English content to Hindi using Google Translator.

The site structure for English is Apln/in/en and guess that Hindi version, of it will be something like Apln/in/hi.

As and when content is created/edited in English in Apln/in/en, it should be translated to Hindi and cascaded to Apln/in/hi.

Could you please suggest me step by step procedure for achieving this using a simple site?

Here is the answer from our AEM Team:

If anyone wants to integrate the Google API, they will have to write a custom connector (this is why you need to code). On the other hand, Microsoft Translator ships with AEM OOTB.

So going back to your requirement:

"I have a requirement to translate English content to Hindi using Google Translator."

Why do you not use the OOTB MS Translator?

Thanks for all your replies.

Google Translator was the choice of customer, mainly because they have this tool already.

As per your suggestion, I will try to get license from client and customize Translate Workflow to integrate it.

Hi all,

I followed the URL.https://multilingualsiteadobecq.wordpress.com/2013/10/09/how-to-create-multilingual-site-in-cq/ .

The website for which I ran this tutorial, showed up with a Language selector dropdown and the site content changed as per my language selection.

This tutorial proved that at least the trial version is free of cost. I did not sign up for free trial also.

The URL you offered, https://cloud.google.com/translate/v2/pricing, also has a link for free trial.

I believe integrating Microsoft Translator with AEM is just configuration and no coding.

please help me understand why we need coding for integrating Google Translator.

Someone must have done this integration.

Hi Rama,

I think Google translations is a paid service. Look at the pricing model here [1]. If you have it, then you can use the APIs and create a translations workflow

We have no community articles on this use case - i will talk with the translation team to see if any are in the works. However - one area you can explore using using Google Translation API:

https://cloud.google.com/translate/docs

There is a Java API:

https://developers.google.com/api-client-library/java/

Now you will have to write a custom workflow step that uses this API to translate content. You need to use this API within AEM.

The common requirement is to have the master language as English (en) and translate to other languages (ru in this case) after changes are made in en hierarchy.
This article does not seem to address this need.
Any ideas?
