Hi.

What is the purpose of Asset Picker page? Would it be a replacement of Asset Share pages? To use it we need to create an HTML page to interact with it in order to perform some action on the files, like downloading them?

Its not, Asset Share exists in AEM 6.1 aswell [1]

The AssetPicker page is simply a way to search and look for assets in the Touch UI.
