We are evaluating the authoring templates feature for one of your our projects. Authoring templates are empowering the authors to define the template layout without the need for a developer. while creating each template type, the author is selecting a a template type. For creating any new page template, should we select html5 template type? is it possible to define project specific template type? First of all is this required?

if project sepcific template type can be created. please mention the steps to be followed.

how do i specify the clientlibs, meta tags etc for these templates?

I believe you are referring to editable templates. The docs are here:  https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-2/develop/templates/page-templates-editable.html.
