Change File Name While Retaining Document ID

I need to be able to upload a new file name, from an existing one, and retain the document ID. Does Adobe Experience Manager 6.3 offer this functionality?

    This functionality is not supported by AEM. However - you can look at using AEM Java API to write a custom service to address this functionality.

      Yes, I need to keep a document ID and change the file name (and format) in the DAM.

      Today, system does not allow me to browse new files from the metadata properties screen, I must upload a new file, but it generates a new document ID.

      I want to be able to browse and upload a new file, with a different name, and retain the doc ID.

      Are you referring to uploading a document to the DAM.
