can we simply add below tag in head.html file ?

<link rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" href="/etc.clientlibs/test/clientlibs/clientlib-site/resources/icons/gicon.ico">

yes, you can add it to file  'head.resources.html', residing under the page component.

By default, it takes the path of clientlib resource folder as @arunpatidar has already mentioned.

Hi,

You need to add fevicon at your clientlibs(which is set from policy) resources folder

Example : https://github.com/arunpatidar02/aemaacs-aemlab/tree/master/ui.apps/src/main/content/jcr_root/apps/aemlab/oneweb/clientlibs/clientlib-site/resources

https://github.com/arunpatidar02/aemaacs-aemlab/blob/db3f9c32e3056948cea8e00e75b1feb18a2f79d7/ui.content/src/main/content/jcr_root/conf/aemlab/oneweb/settings/wcm/policies/.content.xml#L420
