Multiple domains on the same AEM instance

We have a requirement to move our website abc.com to share the same instance as xyz.com. Currently they both are on different instances (though both on AEM 6.5) with varied components and templates but share the same look and feel for only a few components. Could someone please let me know what are the advantages and disadvantages of moving the domains to the same instance. Also, what are the configurations needed for that.

It would certainly result in a reduction in infrastructure costs.

Apart from that, it's easier for businesses as well to author/configure and maintain a single environment.
