Using hashed password for LDAP config

I am trying to use a hashed password rather than plaintext in the LDAP Identity Provider configuration for bind.password but it does not seem to be supported.

Can you verify if this is supported and if so how to enable this?

For 5.x it was supported. In AEM6.x the feature is still pending because IdentityProvider from Apache cannot directly make use of granite crypto. Need to develop extension point. Internal reference to track is GRANITE-6790. Please engage with official support team with your business impact to get this into product.
