Assuming that you are trying to edit them via touch UI instead can you Use the Classic UI Workflow Editor (if still accessible)

Sometimes, the classic UI editor gives a more permissive view:

1. Go to:
   👉 http://localhost:4502/cf#/etc/workflow/models.html

2. Click on the model name — you might be able to at least see the structure even if editing is blocked in Touch UI.
