Add 'Pause' Functionality for Journeys

Description:
Introduce a "Pause" functionality for journeys, allowing temporary halts without permanently stopping them. This would help address short-term issues while preserving the integrity of the journey data.

Why is this feature important to you:
A "Pause" feature provides flexibility in managing journeys by enabling quick fixes without disrupting the entire process. It ensures that IDs remain consistent and avoids mixing or fragmenting reports, which is essential for accurate performance analysis.

How would you like the feature to work:
The system should include a "Pause" button alongside the existing "Run," "Stop," and "Close" options. When paused, the journey should retain its current state and resume seamlessly once issues are resolved, with all IDs and reporting data remaining intact.

Current Behaviour:
Currently, the only available options are to run, close, or stop a journey. Stopping a journey disrupts continuity, alters IDs, and complicates reporting, making it difficult to manage temporary interruptions effectively.

@sukrity_wadhwa I know you said the coming months - i see documentation in experience league on this new feature  https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/journey-optimizer/using/orchestrate-journeys/create-journey/journey-pause

Any new news on timing for this release (we have some journeys that would really benefit from this feature in August)

thank you!

Hi @sukrity_wadhwa ,

Super happy for the good news.

I have asked our TAM to activate it for our organization, hopefully we can test it soon.

Wish you a nice weekend.

Hi @linekr,

It’s expected to be rolled out in the coming months. I don’t have an exact timeline or date at the moment.

Thanks!

Hi @sukrity_wadhwa

Sounds awesome!

When is the future release estimated to be rolled out so it is available globally?

Thanks 🙂

Hi @georgeisar,

This functionality was delivered as part of our latest release.

Quoting from the release notes:

"You can now pause and resume your journeys. This capability gives journey practitioners greater control and flexibility by allowing live journeys to be temporarily suspended without disrupting customer experience. When paused, no communications are sent, and profiles remain in a suspended state until the journey is resumed.

You can pause and resume one journey only, or perform bulk pause and resume operations to a group of journeys.

In addition, you can apply global filters to paused journeys to exclude profiles based on their attributes.

This capability is only available for a set of organizations (Limited Availability), and will be rolled out globally in a future release.

For more information, refer to the detailed documentation. "

Hi @tylerkrause ,

Thank you for your comment!

To clarify, the functionality we are looking for is the ability to pause all steps within a journey—not just the entrance of new profiles.

We already have mechanisms in place to manage the flow of new profiles into journeys.

However, our use case requires the capability to pause the entire journey's progression, effectively halting all steps until we choose to resume it.

This would allow for more comprehensive control during updates or troubleshooting, ensuring a seamless experience for profiles already in the journey.
