Adding a person to Marketo but NOT Salesforce

I want to have a list of people that I can send a Marketo email to but I do not want it to sync into Salesforce. Is that possible?

I have a list in my database but when I add any other information besides the email address it syncs to Salesforce.

I want to send emails to our partners but they are not in our Salesforce database and I don't want them to be.

I would double check the lead's activity history to see which campaign may have forced the sync to SFDC. If the "sync lead to SFDC" step is removed and the lead is not part of a program that may be synced to a SFDC campaign, you should be good to go.
