An index of SPAM laws by country

I'm hoping to find an index of SPAM laws by country with details on opt-in requirements and email marketing guidelines. Ie. For each country, there'd be an explanation of whether or not opt-in is required before you can email users based in the country. Does anyone know of such a resource? I searched the Community but came up short.

    There are some useful links in the answers.

    However do also keep in mind that the European data laws will be changing and becoming even more tight over the next two years. There are some useful web links on this discussion: Changes to European data law

      This is a great idea. I am not aware of such a resource provided by Marketo. Could you please also post this as an idea?
