When archiving Marketo programs do you remove the Salesforce Campaign Sync?

@shayla_mcknight It is advised to remove the Salesforce Campaign sync when you archive any program. Not only this but if there is any active trigger, landing pages, or a web form in that program, they should also be turned off/deactivated. Archiving won't deactivate any program automatically, it'd only be stacking unused programs in one space.

Here is one related discussion as a reference

I concur with the practice of deactivating the trigger campaigns, removing any scheduled batch runs of the batch campaigns, turning the program off (in case it is an engagement program), and if possible also removing the local assets' references from the campaigns and un-approving them before archiving off the assets, but I'm not 100% sure if removing the SFDC campaign association with the Marketo program is required or not.

If I'm not missing anything, until you add a program member, update the program status of the program members, or make any updates to the cost, this should not cause any harm. Also, it is also worth mentioning the fact that the archived assets are not suggested in the drop-downs in campaigns/flows.

That's correct the archived program cannot be referenced in campaigns or flows but SFDC campaign sync may or may not cause any harm. There is less chance changes will happen to the archived program member still it's a good practice to remove any active association before archiving any program as we know archiving doesn't fully resolve the purpose or the requirement behind this activity 🙂
