Assigning Lead Owners

Is there a way to assign lead owners in Marketo?  We currently do not use a CRM so we cannot do it with Salesforce. We will be manually importing all of the information from our point of sale system into Marketo daily. I am just not sure how to go about assigning lead owners (customers that already have a sales rep are already in our POS system), the only way I can think of is importing the lead owners with each import.  Do you have any other ideas?

You would have to create a smart campaign that used the change data value action in the flow. Your campaign could trigger off the leads is created trigger.

Your smart can include whatever logic you use to assign leads to particular sales people, or you could do that in the flow through a series of IF choices.

Ex. If State is CA assign to Joe

Thanks Cathal.  Unfortunately, only current customers are assigned to lead owners, not potential leads. How would we be able to assign lead owners to the potential leads?

Hi Kristen,

In this case you won't be able to set the owners in the existing out of the box field.
You should create a new custom field and you can use that to store the owner.

If you are doing daily imports then I think the easiest solution would be to include the owner from your other system and import that into the new custom field.
