Calendar token appears as html in text version

I'm having trouble with a calendar token in the text version of an email. It's working fine in the html email but for the text email it is appearing as html (see below except I replaced the address details).

<a href='na-m.marketo.com/(rest of address).ics'>mark your calendars</a>

Why is it showing like this?

Thanks!

You can remove the html and have "mark your calendars (na-m.marketo.com/(rest of address).ics).  The text version recipients will need to cut and paste the URL into their browser, but the URL should work if you have the correct address.

I'm having a similar issue, except it's with my entire text email. See sample below. Looks fine in the text editor, but when I send it as a test, I get the html in the text version. What am I doing wrong?
