Recently we have got notification for few of the oprational smart campigns as "This is rare, but the Smart Campaign experienced an unexpected hiccup and some flow steps may not have succeeded", however the campaigns are still working fine.

The smart campaign detailed as:

Smatlist:

  • [Trigger] Email Bounces - Email is any

Flow step:

  • Add to list

Is there a question in here? 😉

Jokes aside: Yes, this happens from time to time. And from my experience, flow steps have in fact succeeded, so no real damage was ever done. You might review this with a Smart List to see if records who bounced were not added to that list. But I actually doubt it.

Sorry, not a great answer, but I think there are more important battles to fight than this one.

Below are some of the top reasons why a smart campaign would run into execution errors:

  • Invalid smart list: The smart list that is used to qualify leads for the campaign may be invalid. This could be due to errors in the filters or triggers.
  • Missing assets: The campaign may be missing assets, such as emails, landing pages, or flows. This will prevent the campaign from running.
  • Technical issues: There may be technical issues with Marketo that are preventing the campaign from running. This could be due to a server outage, a network issue, or a bug in the software.
  • User error: The campaign may have been created incorrectly by a user. This could include things like typos, missing information, or invalid campaign settings, etc.
  • Person Restrictions for Smart Campaigns: When a batch smart campaign tries to process more people than the limits set in the Marketo Admin > Smart Campaign and the restriction isn't overridden at the campaign level.

If you don't see any errors in your campaign smart list and flow, then you can just run a batch campaign to add failed people to the list. Maybe Request this trigger campaign so intended people are added as its members in case you use the Member of Smart Campaign filter, in general, this would also help you have a single point of reference for list additions. 🙂

Hi Michael, Thanks for the reply!
But when we are checking the alert there is a lead affected due to campaign failure and when we are checking lead activity and the bouced list, the lead is not present in that static list, also no activity found regarding lead getting added to list.

Okay, then you should probably just run a backfill batch campaign to add all bounces that weren't affected by the trigger to the list.
