Can email addresses not run through trigger smart campaigns twice?

Hi Marketo gang

Question for yall: Let's say I have a trigger smart campaign that sends a user an email everytime they fill out a webform in which one of the webform fields is a certain value.

I have two webforms (on 2 different websites), both of which only send the email address of the user who fills the webform the triggered email one time, even if they fill the webform (with that specific field value) multiple times. I can see in the Results tab that Marketo doesn't even attempt to send the user the email if they fill out the webform a second time. Is this typical trigger campaign behavior?

Thank you and happy holidays 🙂

First, let’s adjust terminology a bit to fit with Marketo-speak.

You don't want to say “user” but rather person or lead. In Marketo, users are the people who log in.

And it doesn’t sound like you mean “email address” but rather person.

Whether a trigger campaign allows a person to run through more than once is controlled by the Setup tab. By default, they will run through once. This restriction is not by email address, it is by their Marketo ID. Multiple Marketo people can have the same email address, and they can all run through the campaign even when set to qualify once.

Most likely you need to update the campaign qualification rules from the Schedule tab, as Sandy says.

I've added a snapshot and a brief explanation of each of the three available config options in the qualification rule update dialog below FYR -

- Only Once would only let a person flow through the campaign only once even if they qualify for it more than 1x.

- Once every x hour/day/week would let a person flow through the campaign flow only once in the set x hour/day/week, even if they qualify for the campaign more than 1x in that time frame.

- Everytime as the name suggests, would basically allow a person to flow through the campaign flow each time they qualify for it.

Lastly, qualification rules apply to both trigger and batch campaigns in the same way. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have questions.
