can marketo create a task in salesforce?

currently working on a workflow that has marketing sending the account owner of a particular opp an alert.  wonder if there's a way to create a task, rather than sending the email alert?

Yes, you can use the Create Task step in the flow of a smart campaign. This community article gives some details:

Ramon, there's unfortunately no way of designating the "type" of Task, however (call, email, etc).

In the flow of Smart Campaign, under Salesforce there is a flow step "Create Task"

Grant is correct, a create task step can be added in the flow of your campaign.  You can set the due date, priority and select whether you would like a notification to be sent.
