Can Marketo Report Delivered AND Bounced at the same time?

Have anyone seen a scenario where

 

  • An Email Performance Report mentions some bounces (hard+soft)
  • A Smart list saying "Was Delivered Email" AND "Email Bounced" has results

 

The activity log of about a dozen of people in a program has a "Delivered" and "Bounced" stamp, reported at same time

Of course, an email may be Delivered at the first hop (immediate connection to the recipient's MX) and then bounced at a second hop (connection from the MX to an internal mailbox server, or internal processing by a mail scanner).  

 

An "out-of-band" bounce message is then sent back to Marketo — a separate Delivery Service Notification email. 

 

By the second hop it's too late to send an actual SMTP-level rejection, you can't undo the Delivered.
