Can you suspend an entire account from receiving emails for a certain amount of time?

We had a prospect reach wanting to not receive anymore emails from marketing/sales until Q1 of 2017.

Sales we will have to figure out a way but, is there a way to suspend the entire account from marketing emails for a certain time period and then have them automatically opted in for Q1 2017?

Spencer, what you can do is run a smart campaign with the flow of "change data value: marketing suspended true" and then a wait step of several months or a specific date, and then if marketing suspended is true, "change data value: marketing suspended false".

You can also make the campaign requested through Sales Insight so your sales team can also request marketing suspend all emails to this person for a period of time.

As for the entire account, you can put a field on the account and check it if you do not want to email any of the account's contacts for a period of time. You can then bring that trigger into the smart campaign as well.

I echo the two responses above, but would also run a trigger campaign with the flow step Devraj suggested.

The Smart List portion of the campaign would contain three filters and filter it by "Any".
The filters would be:

1. Email contains "@emaildomain.com" (and any and all variations of the domain)

2. Account Name is Account you're looking to suspend emails to

     - I would run a Smart List with the filter Email contains the email domains from step 1 to see all possible Account Name variations

3. Website is the website of the Account in question

This will cover a very large percentage of incoming leads. Ones that may be missed are ones where the lead comes in with a personal account and the Account Name is a unique version that you did not include.

I would also use this same smart list for the Marketing Suspend batch update Devraj suggested.

    Hi Sencer,

    You cannot reference a lead B from a lead A on the basis that they have a common characteristic (such as the same account).

    The workaround would be to set a field in SFDC ACCOUNT. Make it a date field and call it "suspend until". Then have someone fill out this field when the request is made. The field can only be filled out from SFDC as it is an account field.

    In Marketo, just use a "data value changes" trigger on that field and suspend the leads, wait until that date, and unsuspend it. Or just suspend it, and have another batch smart campaign look for any suspended lead with a passed "suspend until" field and unsuspend them.
