Cap Registrations for Events

There are many events in which having an unlimited amount of attendees could be a huge logistical problem. I'd love a way to cap the amount of attendees and automatically switch the landing page to a closed registration when registrations have hit its cap. Basically - "If list count = X, then show X landing page"

This was also discussed in this thead:

How about a program token that's specific to events? A variable you could set that would return true if the number you set was exceeded. That way you could apply some CSS to the page whenever that variable returned true to hide the form and show some other message indicating that the event has reached capacity. Good idea? Bad idea? Personally, I think it'd be swell.

AGREED!!! I am shocked that this is 5+ years in and is not done.  What more do we need to do to get this in the platform.  Clearly there is a HUGE need.

People have been requesting this since 2011 and it's still not on the roadmap? This is a must for live events. (And even some online events  where there's a technical capacity.)

I too, assumed this was built in before we purchased the platform.

Hey Marketo,

Even just a program member filter by status that could be used in Smart Campaigns would allow us to build work arounds based on registration number. (Example: < 5 status attended as a filter in the SL or add choice in the Flow would suffice).

This is a great idea and we struggle has well with this.

So Marketo when is this going to happen?

This is a huge need for our organization, as well. It's not shocking, but very disappointing to see that Marketo has ignored this for so years (this thread started three years ago!)

To those who've used SFDC campaigns, how do you set this up? We have up to 150 events in a 2 month period (we're an education nonprofit recruiting students). We need to be able to cap attendance because manually tracking this many events is impossible.

Also, does anyone know of any low-cost event management solutions that integrate with Marketo? We're at a loss because Marketo doesn't meet our needs and most events platforms we've priced are very costly.

Thank you to anyone who has advice!

Till we get this feature from Marketo, we are using SFDC to manage this. Not the ideal way but solves the capping issue for our roadshow and workshop events.

Hi Alok,

Thank you so much for your response! Would you be able to tell me how you used an SFDC campaign to cap attendance? We're a nonprofit running 150 events in the next two months and we're in desperate search of a solution to limiting attendance.

Thank you for your help!

Liz

We run into this frequently.

Should be standard option!
