Content in Engagement Program: Need clarification on sending duplicate content

I understand that a lead will not get the same piece of content twice from within the same stream, but does this also apply to the engagement program?

For example, Email A is in stream 1, 2 and 3 of Engagement Program A. Does the system look at the engagement program as a whole, the entire system as a whole, or just the stream itself when determining if a lead has received a piece of content?

It looks across the entire system, when determining whether to send the content again (in the context of the engagement program).  So you could have sent the email in a campaign before, then added it to the engagement program, and the lead won't get it again.

What do you recommend doing for duplicate content outside of the engagement program? If you're using Asset A in the engagement program and you are using Asset A in another program? What filters would you use? What setup is best to make sure that the lead that could enter the engagement program doesn't get the same piece of content twice?
