Creating a new lead in a different partition

Hi Everyone.

Currently we have 4 different partition for each of our products(Schools). We also have a default partition that act as an Admin which is link with each partition individually.

The issue we currently have is when a lead already exciting in one partition(School) and filled out a form for for a different school a new lead is not created, instead the exciting lead is updated with the wrong information which end up not been sync to SFDC as this rejected it for data validation.

Is there a way that we can config the default partition to allow to created duplicates and re-assign the leads to a different partition ?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Diego,

The drawbacks would be that, as you have the same person multiple times in Marketo, it will create multiple, separate leads in SFDC, which might (should ) be contradictory with your SFDC data policy.

Thanks Greg, support are looking into this and it seems for us could work!

Hi Diego,

Another possibility would be to change the dedupe rule and make it email + product interest. Then when anew lead is created with a new product interest, Marketo would allow the creation of a dupe. This change can be made by support.

But then, this has obvious drawbacks, especially if you are sync'ing with a CRM, but also because it will make it very difficult to get a 360° visions of the prospect and to run targeted cross selling campaigns that are frequent and valuable in the higher education.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your reply and apologies for my late reply.  I think this could be a good solution for us as each of our products are independent from each other and we don't run any cross selling activities at the moment.

When you mention some drawbacks when syncing to the CRM (for us SFDC) what could you see it can be one of those?

You can set rules in the default that will move the lead from one partition to another when the leads becomes interested by school #2. But the problem is that the lead will disappear from the first partition and all programs targeting it there will no longer work.

Thanks Greg, That's exactly the issue that leads moved instead of creating a new one.

You need the form to be in Default.

There are other solutions if you search around here and check the docs.

Thanks Josh, that would made that partition unmanageable for us as we've so many forms per partition.

I'll keep searching in the documentations  so far I haven't been lucky.
