Deduping upon email send

When does Marketo dedupe contacts? Whenever it is queueing to send them an email? I have an email campaign and my smart list is set up to pull in contacts from two separate lists in my lead database. There may be some overlap between the two lists. When I send the email from this campaign, will it dedupe those contacts or not?

Thanks!

Hello Lily,

If the campaign to send the email is a batch campaign, not a trigger, Marketo will automatically de-dupe before the batch campaign executes so the contact will only receive the email once, even the duplicate also qualifies for the batch campaign.

Thanks Lilly, and when it's a trigger, it's not deduping ?
