How do I personalize an email?

I'm currently trying to personalize an email to include "Hello (insert lead's first name),". However when I sent a test email to my address, my first name was not inserted. Am I missing something?

I inserted the following token:

{{lead.First Name:default=edit me}

Tokens do not resolve when sending test emails. Try runnning yourself through a campaign or a single flow action.

When you send the test email, choose a test list with your info, so the tokens will have something to pick up.

Make sure you include a default phrase in the Edit Me portion in case you don't have complete first name information in your database.
