Hey Marketo community,   A weird thing happened with one of our graphic designers a few weeks ago when he was editing an asset. As he was making changes, his computer froze. Then, when he went back into the asset itself when opening in the email editor, the email had reverted back to an email template one of our consultants created months ago. But, when we previewed the email, you could see the changes he had made. Essentially, the preview did not match the email editor at all.  Any idea what happened here? We ended up having to rebuild the email from scratch. 

Marketo's email reporting summarized performance across unique assets and campaigns per contact, rather than per individual send of that asset or campaign. For example, if we send the same email asset through the same campaign 5 separate times to the same 50k contacts, Marketo reports 50k emails sent, rather than 250k. In most cases, you can just clone the sending campaign or email asset and rename it to differentiate performance between sends.   However, we're planning to create an email with dynamically populated content and send it on a recurring basis (daily or weekly) to the same audience. The email asset's content changes for each send since it is being populated dynamically via formatted JSON content in a lead record, however the specific asset in Marketo will stay the same. Hi all,  I have been in the process of building out a custom email template, using a pre-made Marketo template as the base.  I am having a bit of trouble with the responsive design of one specific section (pics attached of desktop and mobile view for reference).  Ideally, I would like the section to stack and center on mobile.  I have added in a bit of media query to center align and resize on mobile, but it doesn't seem to be responding.  Does anyone know if that is even possible in Marketo?

Hello,   In setting up our instance to ensure email deliverability, we are looking into using an email subdomain, such as email.example.com, for outbound emails from Marketo. Is this a critical step in setting up a successful Marketo instance?    If so, what are the best practices for using a new email subdomain as the "From address"? Should we create a central email address on that subdomain, like user@email.example.com?  Or should we create a number of emails, such as specific.user@email.example.com?     Any further documentation outside of the Setup Outline would be appreciated, as we use Google for our email and I noticed it mentions needing an abuse@ and postmaster@ email in order for an email domain to work in Marketo, which seems to require extra steps for Google users. 

Hi, is it possible to export email results (open/click by person & send) from Revenue Explorer via the REST API ?  If not, has anyone developed a solution to retrieve the data automatically in another way?

Hello,   I'm working on some form validation in marketo. The current setup is a webhook connected to an external email validation service. On form submit, marketo launches the webhook and stores the email status (valid, invalid, accept all, etc.) in a custom field. This works well on post-submit, however we are looking to introduce some validation prior to the form being submitted as well. This way, we prevent invalid emails from ever entering the database, plus potential leads entering invalid emails have the opportunity to re-enter valid ones. Regex or other kinds of format detection don't always work reliably so I want to avoid using those methods if possible.   When testing the webhook, we found the response time is almost instantaneous, which is why I was wondering if there is a way to launch the webhook when someone attempts to submit the form, then have a short wait step, and then only successfully submit the form if the webhook returns the email status as 'valid'. I have a field in salesforce that is not syncing over to marketo. The field is a pick list. Is it not possible for pick list fields to sync when no other fields were updated?    This field is typically updated on its own, on individual contacts.    What do I need to do to get this to sync over?   Thanks! 

In Marketo, once someone reaches success in a program, that success value sticks and doesn't change. Recently, I noticed that upon syncing a program to a salesforce campaign, the responded value in salesforce changed from true to false.   The issue was that our status progression was registered (success = true) >no show (success = false), which wouldn't matter in Marketo because the success value stuck. But we want to count anyone who at least registers as a success and responded = true in Salesforce.   I've since marked no show as a success value in marketo as well but that change has not synced to Salesforce.   What's the best way to ensure Salesforce responded values don't become unchecked and also ensure the historical data here is updated appropriately so that registered>no show = responded?

Are there any default channels which Marketo supports?

How are you handling 3rd party services sending email "as" the corporate domain, to internal and external recipients, from a cosmetic perspective (from address / reply-to address) and from an email transport integrity perspective (e.g., DMARC Reject configuration), in order to maintain trust with the recipients while minimizing risk to the organization in the event the 3rd party is compromised? Are you using alternative domains (edwardslifesciences.com), or are they using subdomains (qualtrics.edwards.com) for a domain like Edwards.com. We are mooking to minimizing risk to our organization in the event the 3rd party is compromised.

I have a Smart Campaign with two flow steps, Add to Engagement Program and Add to List.  I made some changes recently that seem to be causing problems.  Changes included adding the Add to List flow step and changing the campaign settings to allow someone to run through the flow only once - previously it was once every six months.  I've realized there are now a number of people who are requalifying for the engagement program but are being skipped (which is good), but are still getting added to my list (not good).   For example, in this lead's activity log, I want to prevent the "Add to List" activity if the "Add to Engagement Program" is "Skipped: Person Already in Engagement Program."   Is there a way to update my Smart Campaign's Smart List so it doesn't capture people who already qualified for the engagement program in the past?  I can't find a filter with a constraint that allows me to look at the detail/reason of "Skipped: Person Already in Engagement

As you know, Marketo throws an error (skip the step) if you add the "add to salesforce campaign" step in a Smart Campaign if the Salesforce campaign is already linked to a Marketo program. The question is, how can I identify the program which is linked to a specific salesforce campaign?The way I know is to create a smart list of members of the Salesforce campaign and then randomly select one and look at the activity to see which smart campaign or program is sending the lead to the salesforce campaign.Any better idea?

Hello,   Is there a way to integrate Marketo form with 3rd party authentication? The process will be when leads fill out the form, they can also choose to single sign-on and access our platform. I can't find any information about it in the community.   Thank you! Teresa

Hi guys,  Is it possible to format the number in the following way: All phone numbers must start with + The first number after + cannot be 0 (valid numbers are from 1 to 9) There must be at least one number after the first number All other symbols are invalid Example of the valid number: +1234567 and +12345678 I am aware of the mask input and I know I can put +99999999, the problem is that not all phone numbers have the same number of characters, and with mask input, if I put +99999999 it will accept only 9 characters. So, mask input won't work for me. Thanks!  

I am trying to populate a test email message in Marketo with data fetched from a web API and I haven’t had any luck with that. I was able to get record details (directly uploaded to Marketo Custom Objects) populated via Tokens in a test email but I am having trouble now when dataload from outside Marketo is involved. I can assure that records are entering Marketo successfully and also getting added to Custom Objects but cannot understand what is wrong with the velocity scripts. Please comment if someone has experience with email scripts and tokens.Thanks

Hi All,   I would like to understand the behaviour of the Marketo Field data commit. Suppose, Smart campaign is updating field f1 of lead L1 to value X in a flow. It is being used in the next steps of same flow. At the same time, Second different Smart Campaign of another program try to update same field f1 of same lead L1 in its flow.Does Second Campaign able to modify the field f1 of lead L1 meanwhile flow of first smart campaign is not complete?In short, Does the multiple CDV steps (DML transactions) are atomic in a flow of smart campaign.

Hi all - Am I overlooking an obvious, or nice way to automate our desired output in 1 report via Marketo?   Goal: Report organized by WHO clicked links in an email, and which links they clicked. A.B.: Link 1, link 2, link 3 X.Y.: Link 3 Current set up: Individual Smart Lists for each link in the email  Smart list for Link 1: A.B. Smart list for Link 2: A.B. Smart list for Link 3: A.B., X.Y. I'm trying to avoid exporting and manually combining. Hi all,I'm trying to find an elegant way to have a smart campaign be triggered off the activity that someone fills out a form, but only if it's a pre-existing lead. I'm setting up campaigns triggered when a new person fills out a form (using the Person is Created trigger with the Form Name constraint), and I'd like an equivalent program for people filling in a form who already exist in Marketo. What's the neatest way of achieving this?
