Lead Deleted from SFDC
Does anyone know if this trigger looks for Contacts in SFDC too, or if it only looks at lead records in SFDC?

Yes, Leads and Contacts in SFDC. You can double check on this by looking at the associated filter "Lead was Deleted from SFDC" and it will show you the SFDC Type:
