Marketo capability in China

I would like to understand the Marketo capability in China. Our legal team confirmed that the law - any personal information captured in China cannot leave from China. 

Our AE confirmed that Marketo servers where our data is hosted in San Jose and Ashburn, VA data centers, and thus technically, we cannot use Marketo in China. My question to you is how the other global companies are dealing with this issue? What is the workaround?
