Marketo & Zoom integration options

Hi Community,

We are trying to integrate Marketo with Zoom to run Zoom Events (Not Zoom Webinars).

Question:
Does the Marketo native Launch Point service integration work with Zoom Events? Or does it ONLY work with Zoom Webinars?

(Here is the Marketo Launch Point Service documentation)
https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/marketo/using/product-docs/administration/additional-integrations/add-zoom-as-a-launchpoint-service

There is also a second integration option, which is to add the Markto App from the Zoom Marketplace :
https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0067042&_ga=2.128336524.1868249047.1713914008-619010220.1713145274#h_01G40WPJDFKS7KBXQ3P13TJ2VA

This documentation seems to mention that the Marketo native Launch Point service with Zoom only works if you are planning to create a Zoom Webinar. (webinars only).

Does anybody have any experience with Marketo integration with Zoom Events? Can the native Launch Point service (for Zoom) in Marketo work well with Zoom Events?

Thanks
W

Thanks @sanfordwhiteman

The part is not mentioned in the Zoom documentation or in the Marketo doc is whether the Zoom Native Launch Point service will absolutely work with Zoom Events. (Not Zoom Webinars). In the Zoom documentation, it says the native Launch Point is for Zoom Webinars only (this is where the confusion is).

Thus, if the native Zoom Launch Point service from Marketo will NOT work with Zoom Events, we may have to go with the old 'custom' way of creating a custom service in Marketo instead.

The question is, when running a Zoom Event and integrating with Marketo:
Is there a difference between creating the 'Zoom LaunchPoint' in Marketo using the native Marketo-Zoom integration? Or using the Custom Service way. If it is the first one, then I assume it will make the integration process a lot easier.

Any guidance on this is much appreciated! Many thanks,
WY

That's not gonna help. A LaunchPoint service of the Custom type is setting up Marketo REST API credentials for an external app that knows how to use them.

The Zoom Events app doesn't know how to talk to the Marketo REST API.

In order to support Zoom Events, you'll need a custom integration that connects to the Zoom Events API (one "spoke" in a hub-and-spoke setup) nd also connects to the Marketo REST API (another "spoke"). Such an integration can be built by devs with competence + experience but it's not turnkey.

Hi @wy-2 -

You should use second approch for Zoom events. Marketo native integration supports only Zoom webinars.

Thanks,

Hi, @saurabhgoyal_gn

Thanks, so if we use the second option, based on your experience, will we still need to create a native Zoom Launch Point in from Marketo side?
Based on the Zoom documentation, it mentioned this step (adding the native Zoom Launch Point service) is still needed AFTER the Marketo App has been added from the Zoom Marketplace. Can you confirm if this is the correct process?
Many thanks

The Marketo LaunchPoint service requires the Zoom Marketplace app and vice versa. Any separation between the 2 is artificial. Marketo is the client, Zoom is the server.
