Merged Leads Being Added Re-added to Campaigns

Hey guys,

Need your help. It seems every time a lead is merged in Marketo and the source is SFDC, the lead is re-added to the SFDC campaigns that the original lead was a member of. So, if John Doe filled out form X and was added to the corresponding SFDC campaign, then he comes through again and is merged by MKTO, then the new merged record is added to the SFDC campaign again.

I have flows that are triggered when a contact is added to a salesforce campaign. This merging behavior is causing these campaigns to trigger erroneously.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

This unfortunately is just how SFDC behaviors with regards to merges and campaign membership.  There's no reasonable way for Marketo to distinguish between a net new campaign membership record, and one which was created as the result of a merge.  Your best bet in most cases is just going to be to limit campaign qualification to only go through the campaign once from your schedule tab in Marketo.  Most other filters which you can use are going to be approximate at best.
