No SSL for branding domain: any loss of info?

Hi All,

Just FYI, we discovered today that it is still not possible to have the branding domain operate in SSL mode. This was already the case a while ago as I just discovered

per this discussion SSL for branding domain not landing page initiated by @Sanford Whiteman

If in an email my CTA uses utm parameters to provide infos to Analytics and Marketo (something such as page.mydomain.com/mypage.html?utm_source=email), this will be rebranded in link.mydomain.com/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

My questions are, aside to the security issues that are pointed out by Sanford in this idea:

  • When my lead clicks the link, will the mkto_tok information be correctly appended and interpreted by the landing page?
  • Will my utm_source be also correctly left where it belongs and interpreted by the landing page?

I gather that should work, but a confirmation / invalidation would be welcome.

Thx for your input

-Greg

There's no loss of info, it's just not secure.

(The HSTS-based security for secure tracking domains also isn't truly secure, but at least it's a good-faith move toward actual security.)
