Person MQLs before Lead Lifecycle State equals Engaged

Our current Lead Lifecycle requires that you hit "Engaged" before you move on to "MQL." What we are noticing is that we may have a "new person" come in who MQLs off a high value asset, but because they are new and they haven't gone through the Lead Lifecycle smart lists they are not actually hitting our MQL smart lists to move them forward. Wondering if we need some kind of wait step ? And where would we put that?

2 things you can try:

  1. Create a detour that defines how people skip steps as they move through your lifecycle model.
  2. Since you reference new people, create an assignment rule to define the initial stage based on the same kind of choices we use in campaign flow steps. If you haven't seen this before, right-click on your model and choose Assignment Rules at the bottom of the pop-up menu.

It's not possible to answer your question specifically unless you provide information about your actual Smart Campaigns.

I will say that a Wait is not the solution, whatever your setup is. Request Campaign on the other hand may be used to sequence SCs.
