Can someone give me an example with some numbers to explain the "Program Attribution" Cost Calculation?

The docs give a vague definition:

Based on Program Attribution: Attributed Cost is based on a portion of program cost determined by leads or contacts that were acquired, or achieved success, in the program and ultimately resulted in a won opportunity.
