Require Fields to be Mandatory for List Imports

Hi,

I think it would be great if we have the ability to configure some fields to be required/mandatory during List imports at an instance level to avoid bad list imports and to maintain data hygiene.

Thanks,

Vineela.

Thank you for your idea. The Product Management team will evaluate your idea and may follow up with you for more details, if needed.

@vineela_maram I get your frustration. We get such a mix of data from in-person events from badge scanners, Excel sheets and a pile of business cards!

Communication and training on a regular basis is my only answer for now.

We do our best to maintain and clean data but then one bad list causes mayhem.

Thanks Zoe. We also try to enforce users to import data using our templates and have workflow rules built in salesforce to alert teams when they do not have enough information. However, we often run into situations where folks don't comply or are ignorant and don't understand the implications of bad data. It is very difficult to keep up the data maintenance/normalization efforts across our instances and hence thought would be great if we can control that at an instance level.

@vineela_maram   We use global templates which all have a sheet with values for list uploads (CSV files) into Marketo. This helps ensure clean data in lists uploaded.

We also have error alerts from Salesforce incase of invalid fields or data when the leads are synced across.

Agree an error alert for  missing mandatory fields in Marketo could be a good addition, especially if it can be customised by user login, for example those in EMEA may want to include preferred language and of course have OPT-IN value
