When we will get a usable Rich Text Editor - this has to be the absolute worst part of Marketo.

If they do improve, it'll probably cost extra.

We've had complaints from our users too - the formatting never seemed to be consistent. We ended up with this process:

  • hard coded font name and color throughout the template
  • users have to use the clear formatting button in the rich text editor to strip out any styles
  • then on the local variables for the module, the user can select the font size for the whole block; linespacing is proportionate.

Yep, this is essential.

I think one of the issues with the rich text editor is that it has a few too many formatting options - centering text, spacing, fonts , etc. A better solution is to let the designer take care of all these problems in the email template and just paste or write the copy directly into the editor without worrying about how it will look.

Hi Tim,

I am afraid this is quite too vague to be constructive an opinion

Please be more specific and maybe we can pinpoin to some issues that have solutions.

IMHO, it's not the best product on the market, but it's not that bad either. It's usability depends a lot on how the the text zones are integrated and styled in the templates.
