Scoring and tracking external LP pdf and recorded webinar views

We are starting to set up behavior scoring for our instance and some questions came up about scoring and tracking pdf and webinar views on Wordpress LP's. Can Marketo score and track pdf and webinar views on Wordpress LP's? If we only require leads to fill out a form the first time they download a pdf or webinar, is Marketo able to score and track all future download activites without having to fill out a form each time? Or does Marketo require leads to fill out a form each time in order to score and track pdf and downloads?

We do have munchkin tracking enabled and we do have a "Downloads Any PDF" scoring trigger created.

Thanks JD. All of our recorded webinars and whitepapers (pdf's) are all located on a page with images to click to view them, when you click the image of a pdf or recorded webinar, a separate window opens up. Would a SC of "visits webpage" track leads that view a pdf or webinar if a separate window opens up?

Not if that window's URL is the PDF URL itself. PDFs, as JD says, do not generate pageviews. However, the Clicks Link on Web Page activity you've shown in your screenshot will log the click on the page with the thumbnails.

The Clicks Link in Email trigger will misfire when a mail scanner pre-checks your links, so expect rampant false positives.

The 2 scenarios you present are unique and require separate ways of tracking.

For any WordPress LP you can track that just like normal as long as you've installed your Munchkin code from Marketo on the page. Then simply track for 'visits webpage' and score accordingly in a Smart Campaign.

PDFs are a different beast. They actually never touch a landing page if sent directly to it, so there's no pre-determined tracking to use for scoring. @Sanford Whiteman has a great intermediary way to code this by sending them to a redirect page, which I highly recommend: https://blog.teknkl.com/stop-using-direct-download-links-unless-you-like-losing-tracking/

We had a Marketo consultant previously set up this SC for our behavior scoring "Downloads Any PDF", based on what you said, this SC will not work? I activated this SC, went to our resource page with the pdf's and webinars, clicked a couple, check the program members, nothing, checked the SC results, nothing.

Is Sanford's suggestion of creating a redirect the only way to properly score/track pdf and webinar views?
