Setting up a sending limit for a specific operational mail

Hi Marketo Community,

we have a question regarding the capabilities of limiting an E-Mail sendout when a certain campaign triggers a specified amount of Mail sendouts leading to a higher email outbound volume than expected.

Is there a way to reject a Sendout or deactivate a trigger campaign if the associated trigger gets triggered too often?
(E.g. to prevent sending out too much emails in total, we want to reject the smart campaign if the trigger value is changing to often in a certain amount of time - indicating that the trigger is not working properly)

Marketo has an Abort smart campaign if #of qualified people exceeds x nos. for the batch campaigns and email programs, this setting does not apply to the trigger campaign; With a trigger campaign, it is taken that you'd add in filters/add trigger constraints to ensure right people are able to qualify for the smart campaign (and unlike batch campaign that processes people in the batch format, trigger campaign processes people as and when they qualify for the campaign). Once set, you're not able to disable the trigger automatically/modify it in case the number of people qualified through the campaign exceeds a certain number.

Additionally, I don't understand the need to throttle the operational emails sends in the first place as those are sent as a response to person actions in most cases, and you wouldn't want to stop sending out an email to a person who's expecting it.

Hi Darshil, thank you for your suggested answer.

The idea behind this is that we would like to build in a safety mechanism, which automatically stops the trigger campaign when a certain number of daily sendouts is reached. With this measure we want to make sure that no unforeseen bugs or problems lead to unusually high sendouts of our campaigns when connecting external services, e.g. via API. We have seen that it is possible to setup communication limits for marketing mails - it seems that for operational mails, however, there is no similar option available.

If there is a better solution for this, please let me know.
