This is such a big topic and the laws vary from country to country and if it's B2C or B2B marketing. There is a whole host of resources to choose from. Make sure to make yourself familar with the spcefic countries you market to and check on other regulations regarding opt-in vs opt-out vs double opt-in. Also learn the difference between a sales email and a marketing email and how sales can directly reach out to people who are not opted in but marketing cant.
