Staggering an email send

For any email deployments that should be an automatic option to restrict the send to a certain number of emails. For example, if I have a list of 50,000, I may want to spread it over 2 or 5 hours. It would be nice to even allow for a waiting period: send 50% of the list, wait x number of hours, send the rest.

Yes, you can jump through a couple of hoops with complicated workarounds, but this simple feature should be automated. At least that's what the community is saying: http://community.marketo.com/MarketoDiscussionDetail?id=90650000000PEPLAA4 and http://community.marketo.com/MarketoDiscussionDetail?id=90650000000PPXgAAO

I don't want to calculate percentages and go through extra steps if  this can be automated.

You can accomplish this by using the Random filter.
